What are market hours? And how do they affect trading?

GBI Direct works like a brokerage account, we trade differently inside and outside of market hours. You can place buy and sell orders outside market hours; they just get final confirmation when trading reopens, which can affect funds availability and pricing. Full market hours are Monday-Friday 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern Time (except NYSE holidays). Extended hours are 6:00 PM Sunday to 5:00 PM Friday Eastern Time. If you place a buy order outside of a product's market hours, all orders must be Cash orders to ensure your purchase will not exceed the dollar amount intended if market prices move during off-hours.
